Wealth Allocations to Alts Could Reach $4T Within 5 Years

Cerulli projects that U.S. financial advisors' allocations to semi-liquid alternative investments could nearly double from $2.2 trillion today to about $4 trillion within five years. The growth is expected to be driven by rising adoption of interval funds and increasing demand for portfolio diversification and income-generating investments. While some private credit funds have faced elevated redemption requests, advisors continue expanding alternative allocations. The report also found that most asset managers still rely on in-house wholesalers for distribution, despite the growth of alternative investment platforms. Cerulli expects partnerships between traditional asset managers and private capital firms to accelerate adoption by combining investment expertise with broader retail distribution capabilities.
