Wall Street Powers Nation’s Biggest Banks to Record Year

In 2025, the six largest U.S. banks — JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley — posted record revenues of $593 billion, up 6% from the prior year, and combined profits of $157 billion, an 8% increase. Gains were driven by booming trading, lending to hedge funds and surging investment banking fees from mergers, acquisitions and debt underwriting. The IPO market revived, with major companies planning listings, while wealth management divisions saw record revenue. Banks benefited from corporate investment in AI and consumer spending.
