US Finishes 2025 With 6.8% Growth in Life Insurance Application Activity

U.S. life insurance application activity ended 2025 with a record 6.8% year-over-year increase and the highest total volume in a decade, according to MIB. December set additional records, with applications up 22.1% from a year earlier. Growth was broad-based across all age groups, accelerating with age: applicants over 61 saw double- and triple-digit gains, while younger cohorts posted modest increases. All face-amount categories and product types grew, led by strong demand for term and whole life policies. The data point to sustained momentum, particularly among older consumers seeking higher coverage levels.
