BISA Rising Stars: Women and The Great Wealth Transfer
by: Lauren Weindorf
Annually, BISA proudly recognizes a group of “Rising Stars” who are committed to fostering inclusivity and equity within our industry and the communities we serve. The Rising Stars Class of 2025 built upon the foundation set by past cohorts by engaging in a capstone project focused on improving financial literacy in underserved markets.
The overarching goal was to better understand the challenges these communities face, develop actionable solutions, and design a sustainable model for ongoing financial education. To maximize impact, the Rising Stars split into three teams, each addressing the unique needs of a specific community.
They delivered their findings in late August and are now excited to share these insights with a national audience — hoping to inspire collective action toward closing financial literacy gaps, one community at a time. In this capstone recap, Lauren Weindorf shares key takeaways from the project "Women and The Great Wealth Transfer" co-presented by Alexis Veite, Anthony Soeira and Ashley Griggs.
Women and The Great Wealth Transfer
Addressing the financial literacy gaps among women is both urgent and essential. Despite their growing economic influence, women remain underserved in financial education- an issue made even more pressing as they stand to be at the center of the largest transfer of wealth in human history.
Understanding the Gaps and Challenges
Current financial literacy efforts often fall short due to a lack of personalization, accessibility, and emotional relevance. As a result, many women face:
- Low confidence and hesitation in managing their wealth
- Sudden responsibility to manage joint assets without adequate support
- Pressure to steward generational wealth without the tools or knowledge to do so
From Insight to Impact: Strategies That Drive Change
To close these gaps, we must deliver personalized, emotionally resonant, and accessible solutions that align with women’s values, life stages, and learning styles. Our approach focuses on the three generations most impacted by the Great Wealth Transfer:
- Reaching Gen Z: Use social media to deliver engaging, bite-sized, and trustworthy financial content
- Reaching Millennials: Foster relatable, tech-enabled conversations that include family and life planning
- Reaching Gen X: Serve as a trusted partner, recognizing their dual caregiving and financial responsibilities during peak earning years
Change begins with awareness, but it thrives through action- let’s lead the way in shaping an industry where women are not only supported but empowered to thrive.
