Santander Not Rushing Into Webster Integration, Says US CEO

Santander has completed its $12.3 billion acquisition of Webster Financial, creating a $327 billion-asset U.S. bank and marking the largest U.S. bank M&A deal announced this year. Santander U.S. CEO Christiana Riley said the bank will take a cautious approach to integration, with no major customer or system changes expected during the next year and a core technology conversion potentially occurring by the end of 2027. Riley called the completion of the transaction "a pivotal moment in Santander's long journey in the U.S." and one that "underscores our confidence in the strength and opportunity in the U.S. market."
