Morningstar Rolls Out Agentic AI Platform

Morningstar has launched Direct AI, an agentic AI platform that uses its independent investment research and data to help professionals with fund development, distribution and manager due diligence. Three specialized AI agents can analyze fund demand, model portfolios, trading patterns and historical performance, reducing the need for manual research. Morningstar is also integrating its research into Claude, Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT. The launch comes as AI adoption among advisors rises, with 80% now using AI, although only 18% consider it highly reliable for investment recommendations. Separately, Morningstar Wealth is partnering with Envestnet to distribute model portfolios combining public and private-market investments.
