Legacy, Innovation and the Future of BISA: A Message From BISA President John Olerio
by: John Olerio
Dear BISA Members,
As we reflect on another successful BISA conference, I am inspired by the shared commitment and leadership displayed by everyone in attendance. Doris Kearns Goodwin’s keynote reminded us of the lasting impact of legacy — the mark we leave through our work, values and dedication. This message resonates deeply with BISA’s mission: to strengthen and advance our profession while shaping a legacy of excellence, inclusivity and innovation.
BISA exists to support you — the leaders of our financial institutions and product companies. Whether through our networking opportunities, educational programs or industry insights, our goal is to empower you with the tools and connections that drive success. Often, it is the simplest exchanges — a shared challenge, a new perspective — that spark the most meaningful progress.
Looking ahead, BISA remains committed to fostering growth, preparedness and inclusivity. We continue to expand initiatives such as the DE&I Rising Stars, Future Leaders and the BISA Executive Nexus programs — each designed to cultivate the next generation of industry leaders. These efforts are essential to ensure that our field remains innovative, adaptable and reflective of the diverse clients we serve.
Ultimately, our collective impact is measured by how well we serve those clients. Our challenge is to ensure they feel that working with an advisor at a financial institution is the best decision they’ve made. Through collaboration, knowledge-sharing and a relentless focus on delivering the highest standards of service, we will continue to raise the bar.
As we move forward, let us embrace the qualities that define strong leadership: empathy, adaptability and a commitment to evolving with the times. By doing so, we will not only strengthen our organizations but also leave a meaningful legacy for future generations. Thank you for your continued dedication to BISA and to the clients and institutions you serve.
In closing, I echo my request at the conference for all BISA members to be BISA Ambassadors and take responsibility in assisting us with our strategic priority to significantly grow our member financial institutions and our member sponsors. If you ask, they will join!
Sincerely,
John Olerio
President, BISA
