IRA Use Is up 10% in the Past Decade

Research from the Investment Company Institute shows that 44% of U.S. households reported that they owned an individual retirement account (IRA) as of mid-2024. The study found that Traditional IRAs were the most common type of IRA, owned by 33% of U.S. households, followed by Roth IRAs at 26% and employer-sponsored IRAs at 4%.
