Equitable Advisors Names New Head of Broker Recruiting

Equitable Advisors has appointed veteran executive David Goettelmann as its new head of advisor recruiting following the departure of Sean George, who left the firm in a mutual decision after joining in 2025. Goettelmann, who also serves as head of operations for Equitable’s wealth management unit, will now oversee recruiting efforts as the firm emphasizes advisor hiring as a key growth strategy. The leadership change comes amid broader executive reshuffling across the independent broker-dealer industry, including firms like LPL Financial and Ameriprise, as competition for experienced advisors intensifies. The move also follows Equitable’s recent acquisition of Stifel’s independent brokerage business and comes as it prepares for a major merger with Corebridge Financial.
