Aon To Buy USI Insurance Services in $17 Billion Deal
by: Arasu Kannagi Basil
Aon has agreed to acquire rival USI Insurance Services from private equity firm KKR for $17 billion, one of the insurance industry’s largest recent transactions. The deal will significantly expand Aon’s presence in the U.S. middle-market insurance sector, valued at more than $40 billion, while strengthening its excess-and-surplus offerings and advisory businesses. USI generates about $3 billion in annual revenue and will be led by CEO Mike Sicard under Aon’s expanded middle-market platform. The acquisition follows Aon’s $13 billion purchase of NFP in 2024 and reflects accelerating consolidation among insurance brokers. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
