Dozens of Reg BI Cases Filed in FINRA Arbitration Forum

Breach of fiduciary duty and negligence remain the most common type of allegations filed by investors with Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) arbitration forum. But this year, 37 claims alleging breach of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Regulation Best Interest were also filed. In all, FINRA’s Dispute Resolution Services had 1,053 customer cases filed and 1,527 closed through May, according to a report on dispute resolution statistics published by the self-regulator. In the same five-month period in 2021, the arbitration forum had 1,261 claims filed and 1,702 claims closed.
