Citi Announces Match Program for Government Contribution to Trump Accounts

Citigroup said it will match the U.S. government’s $1,000 contribution to proposed Trump Accounts for eligible employees’ families, joining other major banks in supporting the initiative. The accounts, created under President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, will provide a $1,000 Treasury-funded seed investment for children born between 2025 and 2028 with a valid Social Security number, with a planned launch on July 4. Citi also pledged $5 million through the Citi Foundation to promote awareness, boost participation and help with enrollment, particularly for low-income families.
