As RIAs Grow, Here's How Advisor Compensation Is Changing

Registered investment advisor (RIA) firms are offering higher compensation to attract and retain top financial advisor talent amid a period of strong profitability but slow organic growth, according to The Ensemble Practice’s 2025 compensation survey. Advisors in the top three tiers received double-digit salary increases this year, with senior advisors earning a median of $270,000 in total compensation. Firms are increasingly tying pay to organic growth metrics and teamwork, rewarding roles beyond advisors, such as marketing and operations staff. However, experts warn that RIA success has been driven by market gains rather than new client growth, posing risks in a potential downturn.
