Financial experts say the market turmoil caused by the coronavirus may cause advisers to transition to a more active style of portfolio management. As broad indexes begin to decline, advisers may take a more active approach when selecting equities. Professionals could also use techniques like rebalancing and tax-loss harvesting to generate more returns for clients. This could be a challenge, however, as advisers have not had to consider such decisions in several years. The trend could mean improved business for actively managed investment products, which lost ground to cheaper index funds recently.
