SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw Departs

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that Democratic Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw has departed the agency after serving beyond the expiration of her term. Sworn in during August 2020, Crenshaw remained at the SEC under a provision allowing commissioners to stay up to 18 months after their term ends. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins praised her long service and commitment to protecting investors and strengthening markets. Her exit leaves the five-member commission with only three commissioners, all Republicans, which still meets quorum rules but limits flexibility.
