RIA Head-Count Growth Fastest in Wealth Management Industry

Registered investment advisor (RIA) channels continue to lead the financial advisor industry in headcount growth, data from Cerulli Associates show, seeing a 5.1% growth rate for independent RIAs and a 4.7% growth rate for hybrid RIAs over the past decade. The increases come as the overall number of brokers and advisors in the industry remains flat at a 0.2% growth rate for the same time period. Cerulli's Stephen Caruso attributes the trends to organic headcount migration that is ending up in the RIA space, as well as the impact of advisor retirements.
