Raymond James Launches Dedicated ESOP Advisory Unit

Raymond James has launched a dedicated ESOP advisory unit within its investment banking division to help privately held companies execute employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) transactions. Led by Mark Buchanan, formerly of Stout, the practice will assist business-owner clients with tax-advantaged ownership transitions, succession planning and liquidity strategies. Demand for ESOP solutions is growing as more firms remain private longer and seek alternatives to traditional acquisitions. The new unit will also support Raymond James advisors in guiding clients through ESOP structuring, financing and compliance. This expansion reflects a broader trend of firms offering specialized ESOP services, including plan design, financing and transaction support, helping owners transfer wealth while incentivizing employees.
