Mutual Fund Conversions Hit Record in ETF Industry’s Epic Year

This year has seen a record number of mutual fund conversions to exchange-traded funds (ETFs), according to data from Morningstar Direct, with 55 so far on the books. Most of the products that converted were fixed-income in nature. U.S. ETF assets hit nearly $11 trillion this year, with inflows peaking at $1 trillion. There have also been a record number of fund launches — more than 650.
