Most Gen Xers Won't Use Parents' Advisors After They Inherit

Fifty-six percent of U.S. investors say they are unlikely or unsure they would continue to work with their parents’ advisor after receiving an inheritance, according to a survey by Cerulli Associates on behalf of Edward Jones. For Gen X survey respondents, the primary recipients of current and near-term wealth transfers, the figure climbs to 57%. Among those Gen Xers who already know they would switch advisors, 44% said they already have another advisory relationship and 15% said they’d prefer to manage their own money.
