More Industry Reps Opting To Wear Two Hats

Registered representatives in the securities industry are trending toward dual registration, according to a report from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). The number of dually registered individuals climbed to 319,597 in 2023, up from 295,670 in 2019, according to FINRA's data. The number of individuals registered only as broker-dealer reps, meanwhile, has dropped to 308,975 as of last year. Dual registrants first overtook broker-dealer reps in 2021, when their numbers reached 307,587 and 304,836, respectively.
