House Lawmakers Reintroduce Bill Allowing Electronic Document Delivery by Default

House lawmakers have reintroduced the Improving Disclosure for Investors Act, which would direct the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to allow regulated entities, such as registered broker-dealers and advisors, to deliver documents to investors electronically by default. “Continuing to send customers paper disclosure notices is not only wasteful but fails to acknowledge that digital communications are safer and more effective in reaching all Americans,” said co-sponsor Rep. William Patrick Huizenga (R-Mich.).
