Community Bank Deregulation Package Unveiled

U.S. House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) unveiled a legislative package aimed at deregulating community banks, seeking to reduce regulatory uncertainty across administrations. The proposal includes provisions long sought by bankers, such as narrowing the “management” component of exams, banning regulators’ use of reputational risk, standardizing stress tests, raising regulatory size thresholds and revising rules on brokered deposits.
