Women Make Up a Larger Share of Advisors Nationwide, Yet Parity Elusive

Women now make up 24.2% of U.S. financial advisors, according to AdvizorPro’s 2025 Advisor Demographics & Team Structures Report, reflecting progress but still far from parity. Female representation is strongest in wirehouses (30.6%) and investment banking divisions (IBDs) (28.0%) due to structured recruiting, while resident investment advisors (RIAs) lag at 18%. However, 23.5% of RIA firms have at least one female owner or executive, suggesting entrepreneurial pathways to leadership. States like Iowa and Montana lead in female participation, while Utah and Connecticut trail. As women control more wealth, firms with diverse teams are well-positioned to win clients, aligning representation with evolving client demographics and unique market opportunities.
