US-Listed ETFs on Course for Record Annual Inflows

U.S.-listed exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are on track for a record year of investor inflows, with more than $1.54 trillion entering funds through September, already surpassing the 2025 full-year record of $1.52 trillion. State Street Investment Management expects inflows to reach $2.3 trillion by year-end. Equity ETFs attracted more than $1 trillion, while fixed-income funds gained over $469 billion. Technology ETFs led sector inflows, while financial funds experienced the largest outflows. U.S. stock ETFs attracted the most geographically focused investment, followed by developed international markets. Strong investor demand reflects ETFs’ growing role in portfolio allocation, while mutual funds continue experiencing persistent outflows.
