US Insurance Industry Loses 5,700 Jobs in March

U.S. insurance industry employment declined by 5,700 jobs in March, bringing total employment to 2.97 million, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, despite broader nonfarm payroll growth of 178,000. Property/casualty insurers lost 3,200 jobs from January to February, the most of any insurance sector. Life and health insurers lost 2,300 jobs, agencies and brokerages lost 1,700 positions and reinsurers lost 100 roles.
