US ETF AUM to More Than Double to $25 Trillion by 2030, Citigroup Says

Citigroup forecasts that U.S. exchange-traded fund (ETF) assets under management (AUM) will more than double to $25 trillion by 2030, up from about $10.4 trillion in early 2025. Growth is expected to be driven by strong investor demand for low-cost, diversified investment options, as well as continued inflows and market performance. The bank also raised its long-term outlook, projecting ETF assets could exceed $40 trillion by 2035. A key driver will be the rapid expansion of active ETFs, whose market share is expected to double over the next decade, supported by product innovation, regulatory ease and demand for flexible tax-efficient strategies.
