Trump Official Orders Consumer Protection Agency To Stop Work

The Trump administration has ordered the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to cease almost all its work, effectively shutting down the agency. Russell Vought, the newly installed director of the Office of Management and Budget, directed the CFPB to stop work on proposed rules; suspend the effective dates on any rules that were finalized, but are not yet effective; and stop investigative work.
