Third of Women Investors Say Their Advisor Is Condescending

A new Nationwide survey found that while 95% of women investors believe their financial advisors treat them as respectfully as men, many still experience communication problems. About 34% said advisors were condescending, 32% felt advisors underestimated their financial knowledge and 29% reported being “mansplained” to during discussions. The survey also revealed a gap between advisor confidence and client experience. Although 91% of advisors said they were confident in serving women clients, only 37% felt they fully understood women’s financial and retirement goals, and just 25% had received training on women’s unique financial challenges.
