Report Finds RIA Industry Rankings, Scale Don't Guarantee AI Search Visibility

An analysis by public relations firm Gregory of 8,389 AI-generated responses found that prominent registered investment advisor (RIA) industry rankings do not guarantee visibility in AI-assisted financial searches. Of the 100 firms on CNBC’s 2026 Financial Advisor 100 list, 84 never appeared in responses. Scale helped some firms, including Mercer Advisors and Creative Planning, but specialized firms also performed strongly. Dentist Advisors appeared in 7% of answers, while Hockey Wealth Group featured in 85% of responses concerning NHL players. Gregory says niche expertise and targeted website content improve visibility. Firms’ websites were cited in 89.5% of AI-assisted answers, making online content critical.
