Matthew Michelini Named President of Athene

Athene Holding Ltd. has promoted Matthew Michelini to president, where he will lead the firm’s growth strategy, including expanding its sales of lifetime income products aimed at retirees. Michelini previously served as head of Asia-Pacific at Apollo Global Management, Athene’s parent company, and has been with Apollo since 2006, contributing to major initiatives including its insurance platform and the creation of Athene. He succeeds Grant Kvalheim, who became CEO in 2025, and will report directly to him. Michelini said Athene is well positioned to meet growing demand for guaranteed retirement income and aims to simplify retirement solutions for customers.
