Life Sales Surge 8.5% in Second Quarter

Life insurance sales in second quarter reached $2.9 billion, up 8.5% from the previous quarter and 2.6% year-on-year, driven by strong indexed life sales, according to data from Wink. Universal life (UL) sales exceeded $1.1 billion, with Pacific Life leading overall UL sales and Transamerica’s Financial Foundation IUL II topping product sales. Non-variable UL totaled $897.5 million, while fixed UL declined to $69.8 million. Indexed life grew 11% year on year to $829.7 million, while variable UL rose slightly to $292.2 million. Whole life sales hit $1.1 billion, and term life reached $622.9 million.
