Life Insurance Application Activity Hits Record Growth in 2025

Life insurance application activity surged to record levels in 2025, according to the MIB Life Index, with total applications rising 6.8% year over year and closing December up 22%. Growth accelerated in the second half of the year, driven largely by strong demand for term life insurance, which accounted for more than half of all applications and grew 17.5%. All age groups posted gains, led by applicants aged 61 and older. While economic uncertainty is expected to temper growth in 2026, industry investment, digital improvements and rising interest in hybrid products are expected to support continued expansion.
