First Merchants Deal Secures a Louisville Beachhead

First Merchants in Indiana has agreed to acquire First Savings Financial Group for $241 million in stock, marking a strategic entry into the Louisville, Kentucky market. The deal expands First Merchants’ footprint in southern Indiana. Expected to close in early 2026, the merger will create a $21 billion bank with 127 branches.
