Financial Advisors Now Help With College Plans, Family Counseling, Cremains

As the price of investing falls, some traditional financial advisors are looking to new fronts to justify fees. Investment advisors view the rising cost of higher education as their best opportunity as threats roil their industry, pitching tax-advantaged strategies, as well as writing financial aid applications, rearranging assets, consulting on college applications, and even helping the children of clients pick majors and internships. Advisors are even turning to family counseling and handling cremains, in a bid to keep existing clients and gain new business.
