Commissioner Hester Peirce To Leave SEC in November

Hester Peirce, a Republican commissioner at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and head of its Crypto Task Force, will leave the agency in November. Peirce has served at the SEC since 2018. Her departure could leave the SEC with only two commissioners — Chair Paul Atkins and Mark Uyeda — after Democratic commissioner Caroline Crenshaw exited earlier this year. Legal analyst Nick Morgan suggested the timing may allow for a replacement confirmation before Peirce leaves.
