Citi Moves Into Agentic AI

Citigroup is launching a new internal AI platform called Arc that allows employees to build and deploy autonomous AI agents within a single secure system. The platform acts as a centralized “operating system” for agentic AI, enabling multiple AI agents to collaborate on tasks such as analyzing market trends, compiling portfolio data and running financial scenarios. Arc will initially roll out to developers before expanding across Citi’s workforce of about 180,000 employees. It also lets managers monitor agent behavior and intervene if needed, helping reduce risks like unsafe or unintended actions. The move reflects a broader Wall Street push to adopt advanced AI systems safely, as banks compete with Silicon Valley to integrate powerful models while maintaining strict oversight and security.
