Citi Aims To Hire 500 Bankers, Advisors in Wealth Push

Citigroup plans to hire about 500 wealth-management employees, including 100 private bankers and 400 advisors and personal bankers, as part of CEO Andy Sieg’s strategy to expand the bank’s wealth business. Sieg said increasing advisor headcount will deepen client relationships and drive more investment conversations. The hiring push follows a major restructuring that combined Citi’s wealth and retail banking operations and expanded products and referral systems. Sieg believes Citi could capture up to $5 trillion in client investment assets by converting existing banking customers into wealth clients. The bank is also investing in branch redesigns, AI tools like the Citi Sky financial-planning app and partnerships with tech companies including Google.
