CFA First Level Pass Rate Rises to 43%, Above Decade Average

The CFA Level I exam pass rate rose to 43% in August, up from 39% in May and above the 10-year average of 40%. However, it remained below February’s 45% rate. First-time candidates performed significantly better, with a 49% pass rate compared with just 29% among candidates who had previously deferred the exam. More than 28,000 people took the August exam at 519 testing centers worldwide. The CFA Institute said the results reinforce the importance of staying on schedule and maintaining a consistent study plan. Results for Level II and Level III candidates are scheduled for Sept. 30 and Oct. 20, respectively.
