Brighthouse Keeps Silent on Potential Sale

Executives from Brighthouse Financial were quiet during a recent earnings call about recent reports that the company may be looking for a buyer. When asked by Jeffries analyst Suneet Kamath whether it makes sense for the company to continue to be a stand-alone public company, Brighthouse CEO Eric Steigerwalt said the company was trying to power through periods of complexity. Wells Fargo analysts wrote in a comment about the call that Brighthouse executives "did not address the elephant in the room."
