Athene Remains King of Annuity Sales

Athene sold more than $18.7 billion worth of annuities in the first half of the year, beating its 2023 pace, LIMRA data show. The insurer sold $35.5 billion in 2023. Four insurers, meanwhile, are on pace to top $21 billion in sales this year: Corebridge Financial, New York Life, MassMutual and Equitable Financial. Two companies topped $20 billion in 2023.
