Athene, Private Equity Firms Buy ARS Platform To Hasten In-Plan Annuities

Athene Holding Ltd., Apollo Management and Motive Partners have teamed up to acquire ARS, a provider of lifetime income solutions and technology for the defined contribution retirement market. Athene said the key roadblock to expanding offerings, including annuities that bring lifetime income, to traditional DC plans has been the lack of a simple and efficient delivery mechanism. ARS has created Lifetime Income Builder, a multi-carrier technology platform to fit income products such as annuities into the defined contribution plans.
