Americans Getting Burned By Online Money Advice, CFP Board Survey Finds

A CFP Board survey found that 57% of respondents said they’ve made decisions based on bad online financial advice and regret it. While 75% of respondents said they seek out online financial information at least once a month, only 39% believe that information is in their best interests. Yet human advice still dominates when trust matters most, according to the survey. Amid growing digital misinformation, the survey found most respondents trusted financial advisors, with three-quarters saying they feel confident following their financial advisor’s advice without needing to vet the information further.
