Affluent Investors Favor Fee Model, but Firms Should Offer Options: Cerulli

Though most wealthy investors prefer fee-based financial planning to a commission-based approach or a no-fee platform, wealth management firms should still ensure they can meet the needs of investors who'd rather not work on a fee system, according to a survey by Cerulli Associates. The survey found that 36% of affluent investors say they prefer fee-based pricing structures. Advisors who have experience with these compensation models say this shift away from commission-based models reflects a growing trend. They also say more education and transparency on fee structures is needed throughout the industry.
