Advisors Need To Play Fact-Checker to AI Bots

A recent study by Saturn, a U.K.-based AI and technology provider for financial advisors, found that large language models made mistakes in 57% of 121 financial questions tested across 18 AI models, with errors rising to 88% on harder questions. Common problems included missing critical information, incorrect figures and omitted risk warnings. Financial advisors say AI can be useful for general education and productivity, but its outputs require careful verification. Advisors report that clients are increasingly using AI to explore financial questions, creating both additional review work and opportunities to strengthen trust. Younger clients are particularly receptive to AI, although some say it increases their desire for professional guidance. A recent New York Life study found that only 23% of the 2,278 adults surveyed accepted the advice and went forward without seeking additional validation.
