Fidelity Seeks Approval for a Bitcoin ETF
Fidelity Investments on Wednesday applied to launch a new bitcoin ETEF, becoming the most prominent company to enter the race to offer investors a new option for trading the cryptocurrency. Two bitcoin ETFs have launched this year in Canada, and at least six companies have attempted to win approval from the SEC for an ETF in the United States in the past few years, but were either rejected or withdrew their proposals. But some industry participants think that this is the year when an ETF wins approval. The likely next chair of the SEC, Gary Gensler, is known as a proponent of blockchain technology.
