Congress Takes on 529s, Targets Student Debt

Congress has its eyes on enhancing 529s and reducing student debt. One measure would expand 529s to cover apprenticeship programs, home-schooling expenses, and student loans, while another would expand 529s to cover a range of educational expenses in elementary and secondary school. To reduce student debit, bills have been introduced that would, among other things, allow graduate students to deposit funds from their stipends or fellowships into IRAs.
