Advisors' Digital Footprints Are Derailing Career Moves

With wealth management firms increasingly monitoring advisors' digital actions in the lead-up to their resignations, advisors are finding career moves like switching to a new firm derailed. Proof of violation is not needed for employers to crack down, as a court-issued temporary restraining order is often sufficient if firms can show that they are likely to succeed on the merits of their case. Attorneys recommend that advisors should consider hiring a lawyer prior to their resignation, and should at minimum be aware of the terms of their employment agreements.
